Deck permits

Most decks in Ontario require a building permit and Ottawa in no exception.  If your deck is over 24” in elevation – it need a deck permit.  If you are attaching it to the house – it needs a deck permit.  Our company assists our clients in getting BCIN or engineering deck permits and takes care of booking all the inspections and with the permit application process.

If your deck needs a permit and you find a contractor who tells you that it is best not to get a permit – run from them.  Likely they are cutting corners and do not want to deal with the city inspectors.  When you sell your house and it has a deck with no permit registered with the city of Ottawa – you may have a problem.
